Parent Resources

The parent resources are grouped into the categories of health and emotional support, parenting skills, outdoor and indoor activities, and nutrition. The variety of resources reflects the diversity of parent and child needs within our community of Beford-Stuyvesant in Brooklyn, New York. Parents can find resources such as access to groceries at a local food pantry to information about disability services and assistance right in their own neighborhood. Support for parents at any stage in parenthood is important in the overall wellbeing of their child and we have provided just that within our community resource list. The resources were selected based on expressed parent needs and research on the demographics and cultural diversity of our community.

Brooklyn Craft Farm offers birthday parties, event entertainment, and on-location kids sewing classes and workshops. With a focus on developing skills, boosting self-confidence, and always having fun, we believe that every child will create amazing things when given the opportunity.

With people spending countless hours on their computers and smart phones, and school art programs being cut, our mission is to inspire people to unplug and “make something”. The process of crafting helps strengthen your focus, clears your head, and allows you to really enjoy being in the moment. Completing a project gives you a great sense of accomplishment, enhancing your self confidence.

Brooklyn Craft Farm was founded in 2010 by the creative duo of Julie Fischoff and Loulou Williams. Today the Craft Farm is run by Julie, who after a decade of working professionally in New York City in costume design(PBS), window display(Bloomingdales) and photo styling(Martha Stewart), has found her true passion in teaching and inspiring others to be creative. Julie is a firm believer that anyone can make amazing things…and that googly eyes really do make everything better!

little Lola & tots was built on the idea that toddlers can master fundamental life skills through creative exploration in a safe, engaging and nurturing space. We aim to create a learning environment where through early education and cultural exploration, kids can build tolerance and empathy and make the world a better place.

As first-generation Latinas who are passionate about education, we saw the need for early childhood educational programming in the community of Bedford-Stuyvesant. We are proud to say that we were the first playspace to open in Bedford-Stuyvesant as there were limited options in the world of early education for families in the neighborhood. As New Yorkers, born and raised, we have seen the effects of gentrification on communities of color. Thus, it has been an empowering experience, as minority entrepreneurs, to serve the community of Bedford-Stuyvesant, a super-fast gentrifying neighborhood.

Our community has inspired us daily and our aim is simply to inspire it back! Through our space we are able to introduce families to entrepreneurs within the neighborhood that provide programming with our mission in mind. Although we own and manage the space, we still teach some of the programming ourselves. It allows us to really get to know our community and the people we serve.
